No need to be confused, just try first practice by copying other styles and then when you are good enough, you make your own unique.^^

Well you can't make your own starting from nothing. If you continue like this you will only get better at nothing. No offense. xD The same thing is if you want to try and learn to do math on your own, but not using any theory or formula, but making your own.
Kinda hard, right?

You can not make something good yourself if you don't learn by others example. You have seen that yourself. xD Like me, I first start by looking and almost copying completely. Then slowly I change some thing while copying on my own style, not copying it completely and so more and more.
That's how you train yourself. :)

Sorry.. I just want to help you, lol. Well your teacher said that well, but not that long wide necks. You can see some of my drawings for example.
Aw, of course that you can draw chest well. The only mistake was that you made the lines there go beyond of body, making it look like he has some larger breasts.
Which gives me an idea, maybe you could draw nice female characters?^^

Looks interesting and good, but I will have to give you two critics. First one and why I am saying it is that you haven't followed my last advice of making the neck looking thinner and smaller. The other one is that his chest look like that he has some big boobs (this one is just for comedy xD). So next time make is smaller on the edges and that his core is wider than them.
But other than that pretty interesting. I like the expression you put there on his face and the look that he has.^^

i will try and do a complete drawing of him just for you. I will get to working on that tonight or tomorrow. But if his hands or feet look bad...im sorry i cant do hands nor feet well XD

If you do a complete pic of his outfit with all the coloring, I'll draw him!! those abbs look tempting to me!
